Three Ways to Reduce Stress This Holiday Season

The holiday season is upon us and along with the fun and beauty of the season, comes stress and overwhelm. There are a million things to get done but hardly enough time to cross all those to-dos off your list. This can result in late nights and lack of sleep. It can feel like you are being pulled in many different directions. The good news is there is something you can do about it!


Here are three things you can do to take some of the stress out of the holidays so you can experience more inner-peace and enjoy all the season has to offer.


1. Be mindful of what is a must-do and what is a choice. If it is a choice, can you let it go if you start to feel overwhelmed?

  • Buy store baked cookies to decorate

  • Do you really need to clean under the fridge before your guests arrive (guilty). Some of us can get a little crazy when it comes to the cleanliness of our homes when hosting. Know that most people do not notice near what we think they do

  • I love to support our local small businesses but if shopping online will save you time, and some sanity, then do it. Take care of you!

  • Much of what we do for the holidays is a choice so know when to say no and create balance for yourself

2. Make your wellness a priority each day, well as many days as you can. Don’t pile on more if it adds to your stress.

  • Get enough sleep

  • Drink enough water

  • Don’t skip your workout (if you’re the working out type)

  • Take a long hot shower or bath

  • Express gratitude

  • Laugh

  • Do random acts of kindness

  • Practice mindfulness

3. Let go of perfection

  • Let go of trying to create the perfect holiday and let go of major stress

  • Repeat this mantra as many times per day as you need to “ I am enough”
